So...I know fuckall about economics, but the way I see it...if we, the taxpayers, don't bail out the banks and insurance companies, the economy and the job market and the stock market, etc etc, are fucked...and if we do, the economy and the job market and the stock market, etc etc, are STILL fucked, AND we're paying for some asshole CEO driving a BMW who owns an umbrella stand made of Martha Stewart's vagina (thanks, Lewis Black) to have his company be made there there it's all better now.
Fuck it. Don't help them. Help the average American out instead of these jerks.
