This doesn't really help your problem, and you might even already know it, but I just learned about it this evening in setting up a moblog for a new site of mine. Apparently with Flickr's 200 pic limit on free accounts, exceeding the limit only means that they don't show up in your photo stream, or whatever they call it. This was a swaying point for me because I'm pretty much using Flickr solely to post to Wordpress and couldn't care less if they're not visible specifically on Flickr, but I was concerned that after I passed the 200 images mark, old ones would start disappearing from the blog itself. Apparently they're all still there, though, and can still be linked to from other sites, just not viewed in your stream anymore.
Again, no help to you at all - I'm just happy that I'm learnin'... :)
